The city and municipality of Gijon in north-western Spain was awarded a single-year licence to stage an ATP 250 in 2022. The indoor hard-court tennis tournament at the Palacio de Deportes will return to the calendar in 2024. Once known as an industrial city, Gijon is now an emerging tourist, university and commercial hub.
